Skype for the Classroom

Skype in the classroom is an education specific branch off from the main Skype.

It is an excellent tool for fostering collaboration between your class, other classes around the world and for connecting with 'experts' from different fields. Using Skype in the classroom will create a fun and exciting learning environment for students who are interested in using the internet and technology.

For a teacher using Skype can allow you to discuss and share ideas with other teachers around the world, increasing your own professional knowledge.

When you sign up for an account you can create a profile so that other teachers can search for you, you can also search other teachers profiles. This way you can see what areas teachers are involved in and see who you would like to get in touch with. Teachers can also create a lesson that other teachers can join in. You can also upload resources onto skype.

The video below will show you how Skype in the Classroom works.
